Researchers receive funding from National Psoriasis Foundation

June 25, 2019

Five researchers from our program received news that their projects were awarded funding from the National Psoriasis Foundation (USA). Dr. Vinod Chandran received a PsA Diagnostic Test Grant, Dr. Remy Pollock received a Discovery Grant, Dr. Sara Rahmati and Keith Colaco both received Early Career Research Grants, and Kirubel Goliad received a Summer Student Research Grant. Congratulations to our team members!

Undergraduate student awarded prestigious Amgen scholarship

June 25, 2019

University of Toronto undergraduate student Anas Samman has been accepted into Canada's first Amgen Scholars Program. This prestigious program offers top students the opportunity to perform biomedical research through a 10 week research placement. Anas chose to work under the mentorship of Dr. Vinod Chandran and hopes to gain a solid understanding of both the general structure of translational research, and its implementation within the context of psoriatic arthritis.

2019 PsA Patient Symposium date announced

March 22, 2019

Save the date! Our annual PsA Patient Symposium will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the Hilton Downtown Toronto, 145 Richmond Street West. The symposium is an opportunity for patients to learn more about their disease, the newest treatment options, and the types of research we undertake. Registration is free and refreshments and light snacks will be provided.

Congratulations to our Director Dr. Dafna Gladman on receiving the Distinguished Clinical Investigator Award from the American College of Rheumatology. This award is given on an annual basis to a clinical scientist who has made outstanding contributions to the field of rheumatology. The American College of Rheumatology is a global medical society committed to improving care for the rheumatic diseases. It comprises 9,600 physicians, health professionals and scientists.

World Renowned Research

The University of Toronto Psoriatic Arthritis Clinic is now 40 years old and has treated over 1,498 patients who are being closely followed. This constitutes the largest and the most comprehensively studied group of psoriatic arthritis patients in the world. Both the clinic and the doctors associated with it are recognized internationally for their expertise in research and management of psoriatic disease. Psoriatic Arthritis: A Medical Journey of Discovery

This short documentary was created by one of our talented patients 5 years ago for the 35th Anniversary of the Psoriatic Arthritis Clinic. It includes interviews with Dr. Dafna Gladman and Dr. Vinod Chandran, along with several of our patients, and highlights the type of research we undertake and why.
